Cabbage prices in Russia continue to grow steadily. This is evidenced by the data of the daily monitoring of the EastFruit project. Experts note that today these products are already almost 3 times more expensive than at the beginning of March last year.
Today, farmers are ready to ship cabbage at 30-45 rubles / kg ($ 0,46-0,68 / kg), which is on average 12% more expensive than at the end of last working week. Experts explain the next rise in prices in this segment by excessive demand, while the supply of cabbage in farms continues to decline rapidly. Many farmers have already sold all stocks of white cabbage.
It is also worth noting that the rise in prices this week was also recorded in the farms of Dagestan. Today farmers of the republic offer white cabbage at 30-35 rubles / kg ($ 0,46-0,53 / kg), while the stocks of cabbage in Dagestan farms are also decreasing.
Russian traders report the presence on the market of imported cabbage, the main supplier of which is Belarus. Given the fairly high quality, these products in bulk on the Russian market are offered at 35-40 rubles / kg ($ 0,53-0,61 / kg).
The rapid growth in prices for these products, the key market players associate with large losses of their own cabbage crop in Russia. Recall that in late October, frost severely damaged cabbage plantations in most of the country, as a result of which a significant part of the cabbage harvest became unsuitable for storage.
It should be noted that in the same period last year, farmers, as a rule, were unable to ship these products more expensive than RUB 16 / kg (($ 0,24 / kg). At the same time, most market players are sure that cabbage in Russia will continue to rise in price as the offers in farms.
