On April XNUMX, Iran will impose a ban on the export of potatoes and onions. The ban is introduced to regulate prices in the local market.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Iran Abbas Gubadi said this, Trend reports on Saturday.
According to Gubadi, the export of onions to neighboring countries, in particular to Iraq, has led to its rise in price in the country.
The deputy minister added that the Committee for Market Regulation decided, along with onions, to ban the export of potatoes.
Note that in recent days, the cost of 1 kg of onion in Iran exceeded 140 thousand riyals (approximately 3,33 dollars).
Another factor contributing to the rise in price of onions was the last heavy rainfall in the provinces of Khuzestan and Kirman, which created difficulties in harvesting.
