Kazakhstan lifted the ban on the import of food and seed potatoes, apples and persimmons from Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
The ban was lifted today, May 22. This decision was made following a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhenish Razakov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhenis Makhmuduly Kasymbek, as well as the implementation of a roadmap on quarantine phytosanitary control.
A temporary ban on imports of potatoes, apples and persimmons from Kyrgyzstan was introduced by the neighboring country on February 19 after the discovery of pests in these products. Then Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylalgaziev talked with his Kazakh counterpart and decided to send a delegation to Astana.
