By spring sowing in the region, 4 thousand hectares of land will be brought into agricultural rotation after reclamation work. Given the excess soil moisture, local authorities are paying increased attention to reclamation. The Leningrad region ranks second in the country in terms of the volume of drained land, the area of which today is 351 thousand hectares.
In 2023, the volume of cultural and technical work here increased by 3 times, and irrigation and drainage work - by 1,4 times. Such results became possible thanks to the regional program for an integrated approach to the use of land resources and assistance from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
32 land reclamation projects received state support, which is 3 times more than in 2022. The amount allocated from the federal budget reached 119,2 million rubles – 2,2 times more than a year earlier. The total amount of funding for soil drainage and restoration of fallow lands increased by 46%, amounting to 371 million rubles.
