Russian producers of white cabbage this week got the opportunity to raise the price of these products, according to analysts of the EastFruit project.
Most farms have already announced the completion of the sale of early cabbage varieties, and local farmers are not allowed to start harvesting late varieties with rains that have been going on for the second week in a row.
In particular, today farmers of the main regions of the Russian Federation production offer cabbage at 12-18 rubles / kg ($ 0,18-0,28 / kg), which is on average 20% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
According to the producers, the rise in price for the cabbage segment is due to several factors at once. First of all, this is due to a significant reduction in the supply of products on the market, since many farms have already completed the sale season of early cabbage varieties, and they plan to start harvesting later cabbage no earlier than a week later, if weather conditions permit. Moreover, the demand for these products is quite high.
It is worth adding that at the moment white cabbage in Russia is on average 39% more expensive than in the same period last year. However, at the same time, market analysts note that such a price trend is due only to the seasonal factor and in the near future cabbage in the Russian market will again begin to become cheaper when medium-sized products begin to massively go on sale.
