Potato sown area in the industrial sector of potato growing (data on agricultural organizations and peasant farms, excluding households) of Russia in 2019, according to preliminary data from Rosstat, in farms of all categories amounted to 302,3 thousand ha, which is 2,7 % (8,5 thousand ha) less than in 2018.
Over 5 years, they decreased by 5,9% (by 18,9 thousand hectares), over 10 years by - 7,3% (by 23,7 thousand hectares). In 2001, the area was 266,0 thousand hectares.
Rating of TOP-5 regions in terms of potato area
- Bryansk Region (area in 2019 - 26,8 thousand hectares, share in total areas - 8,9%).
- Tula region (19,4 thousand ha, 6,4%).
- Nizhny Novgorod region (14,7 thousand ha, 4,9%).
- Sverdlovsk region (14,6 thousand ha, 4,8%).
- Moscow region (13,7 thousand ha, 4,5%).
Also in the TOP 20 largest regions in terms of the size of potato areas in the industrial sector of potato growing in 2019, according to AB Center, included the Astrakhan Region, Kemerovo Region, Tyumen Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Tver Region, Chuvash Republic, Lipetsk Region, Omsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Udmurt Republic, Rostov Region, Krasnodar Territory, Tambov Region, Stavropol Territory, Republic of Tatarstan.
