The American company CF Industries expects that in the next four years the expansion of demand for nitrogen fertilizers in the world will outstrip the pace of the creation of capacities for their production: they are being built very little and not a single new installation will appear in North America.
Coal-based nitrogen fertilizer factories in China will continue to have high production costs in the future. The net export of urea from China is likely to be 1-3 million tons per year, and higher prices for it in certain periods of time will lead to a surge in supplies from China.
The demand for urea in India and Brazil will be strong over the next couple of years. This year, both countries will clearly increase its imports.
