Many summer residents complain about the poor potato harvest this year. Gardeners say that potatoes are smaller than last year.
Farmers in the region have begun harvesting vegetables. According to the regional department of rural social and economic development, on September 10, potato harvested from 305,9 hectares. It is clarified that the pace of its cleaning is also ahead of last year.
Denis Kolpakov, director of an agricultural enterprise located in the Tomsk region, told the editors of the site tvtomsk.ru that the potato harvest this year is indeed weak. This is due to the fact that there was no rain on the fields of the farm for two months.
“There are fewer potatoes than in 2018, and they are smaller, but of better quality. I think that this year we will have enough of our own areas for storing crops "
In total, this farm grows eight varieties of potatoes: Red Scarlett, Gala, Koroleva Anna, Tuleevsky, Kemerovochanin, Tanay, Red Lady and Rosara. According to our interlocutor, about 50% of potatoes were harvested from the fields of the farm. From the irrigated area, the yield was 200-250 centners per hectare, from fields without irrigation - about 180 centners per hectare.
We add that the favorite varieties with high consumer qualities in the Tomsk region are Lyubava, Nakra, Red Lady, Red Scarlett, Rosara, Sarovsky and Yubilyar (red-skinned varieties), as well as Nevsky and Lyubava (with white flesh).
“Highly starchy (over 18%) - Antonina, Nakra, Memory of Rogachev and Sarovsky. In 2017, the variety Zlatka (Novosibirsk) with a yellow skin, light yellow pulp was included in the State Register for the West Siberian Federal District, ”said Lina Gumarova, professional consultant-agronomist of the consulting department of the Agrarian Center of the Tomsk Region.
Note that in 2020, the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture and Peat plans to please Tomsk citizens with a new variety of potatoes.
