Corteva Agriscience Opens New Packaging Terminal in Cerne, France to Help Farmers Meet Consumer Demand for Natural Products
On September 19, Corteva Agriscience opened a new plant protection product packaging plant as part of a multi-million dollar investment in natural products.
A € 20 million plant project in Cerne (Upper Rhine) in France will allow the production of Inatreq ™ active fungicide products that have been approved for use in the EU. This is a molecule of natural origin obtained by fermentation, belongs to a new class of active substances for the protection of crops against diseases *.
Production at the new plant with an area of 4000 square meters (the company is one of the four production sites of Corteva Agriscience in France) will be launched in October 2019, and it is expected that over the next four years 50 additional jobs will be created. 380 people, not including temporary staff, have already been hired by Corteva Agriscience at a facility in the neighboring municipality of Uffholz.
In addition to building a new plant, the company is also investing in a site in Serna for the production of preparative forms. The project lays the foundation for a larger investment project planned in France, as Corteva Agriscience strives to meet the demand for natural products step by step and provides farmers with a set of innovative solutions to help them cope with the ever-changing challenges of society.
“Inatreq ™ active is a revolutionary product that allows growers to increase their yields while maintaining plant safety, thanks to its natural origins, which European society so much expects from agricultural innovation,” said Susan Lewis, senior vice president of operations, Corteva Agriscience ...
“New investments demonstrate Corteva Agriscience’s commitment to deliver innovative and effective solutions that not only transform agriculture, but also help farmers increase productivity and ensure food security for a growing population. The commissioning of the new plant underscores Corteva’s commitment to creating an efficient food system that will help farmers produce wholesome, high-quality food that consumers demand. ”
