According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, potato harvesting continues in the central regions of Russia, which has been delayed due to rainy weather. Against this background, the supply of products on the market increased sharply, which in turn led to another decline in prices in the potato segment.
To date, the price of potatoes is announced by producers in the range from 6 to 14 rubles / kg ($ 0,10-0,21 / kg), which is on average 10% cheaper than a week earlier. At the same time, large farmers note that the excess supply in the market exerts pressure on the price, since most small producers prefer not to lay potatoes for storage, but to sell the entire amount immediately after harvesting.
It is worth noting that the price of potatoes on the Russian market at the moment is already on average 25% lower than in the same period last year. At the same time, most producers with modern potato storages do not agree to lower prices and prefer to stop selling potatoes, expecting prices to rise in this segment in about a month.
