Potato prices in Russian farms continue to grow rapidly, according to EastFruit project analysts. According to market operators, such trends are caused by a further reduction in the supply of high-quality potatoes. In addition, most farmers even report the end of the sales season for these products.
At the moment, in the main regions of production, quality potatoes go on sale at a price of 10-17 rubles / kg ($ 0,17-0,22 / kg), which is on average 15% more expensive than at the end of last working week. Market players explain the rapid rise in price of potatoes in the Russian Federation by increased demand, while stocks of quality products in farms are very limited. Moreover, the supply of low-quality potatoes has also significantly decreased, which also supports prices.
It is worth noting that today the wholesale price of potatoes in the Russian Federation is already on average 15% higher than at the beginning of April 2019. At the same time, market operators do not exclude further price increases in the potato segment as stocks of these products decrease in households.
