EastFruit experts explain the positive price dynamics by the seasonal depletion of stocks of quality products on farms, as well as by the high demand of Russian wholesale companies and retail chains for these products.
According to the project, at the moment, many farms are already declaring the price of high-quality carrots in the range of 12-20 rubles / kg ($ 0,16 - 0,26 / kg), which is on average 25% more than at the end of last week.
Price support for the products of Russian farms is provided by a limited supply of imported carrots, which is due to quarantine measures in the supplying countries.
However, it is worth noting that even despite the rise in price, at the moment carrots in Russian farms are significantly cheaper than a year ago. Recall that in the first half of April 2019, farmers managed to sell on average 25% more expensive than today, despite the fact that cheaper products from Belarus steadily entered the market.
