The production of agricultural products in Russia in October, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 899,1 billion rubles, which is 6,6% less than a year earlier, the Federal Service of State Statistics of the Russian Federation (Rosstat) reported. The decline in production occurred for the first time since December 2018, when it was 0,1%.
For 10 months, agricultural production increased by 1,8%, to 5 trillion 151,3 billion rubles. But the growth rate was below 4,1% last year.
Rosstat also reported that by November 1 grain and leguminous crops had been threshed from 94,5% of the area, of which corn for grain - from 75,2%. Sunflower was harvested from 90,6% of crops, sugar beet - from 88,6%, potatoes were dug from 98% of the planted area, vegetables were harvested from 92,8% of crops. It is estimated that 133,1 million tonnes of grain were threshed in the original capitalized weight (6,8% more than a year ago), 12,6 million tonnes of sunflower seeds (13,1% less), 28,5 million tonnes were dug up sugar beet (35,2% less), 19,1 million tons of potatoes (11,6% less), harvested 12,759 million tons of vegetables (0,9% less).
As in previous years, the bulk of grain (70,2%), sugar beet (92,5%) and sunflower (66,7%) was grown in agricultural organizations, potatoes (66,4%) and vegetables (53,7%) ) - in households. Peasant farms harvested 29,1% of the total harvest of grain, sunflower seeds - 32,9%, sugar beet - 7,3%, vegetables - 19,2%.
For next year's harvest, agricultural enterprises sowed 1 million hectares of winter crops for grain as of November 11,8, which is 3,2% more than last year. The plowed field was plowed on 17,4 million hectares against 17,6 million hectares a year earlier.
Rosstat also reported that for 10 months the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) amounted to 12,3 million tons (3,5% more than in the same period last year), milk - 27,5 million tons (by 2,7% more), eggs - 37,9 billion pieces (0,5% more). In October, compared to October 2019, the production of livestock and poultry decreased by 0,3%, to 1,4 million tons, milk - increased by 1,9%, to 2,6 million tons, eggs - increased by 0,1% , up to 3,7 billion pieces.
At the end of October, the number of cattle in the farms of all agricultural producers, according to calculations, amounted to 18,7 million heads (0,5% more than a year earlier), including 8 million cows (0,2% more). The number of pigs was 26,7 million (4,8% more), sheep and goats - 23,4 million (1,3% less). In the structure of livestock, households accounted for 40,5% of cattle, 9,6% of pigs, 45,7% of sheep and goats. At the end of October 2019, these indicators were 41,2%, 10,5%, 46,1%, respectively.
