The Association of Grain Deep Processing Enterprises together with the federal magazine Agrobusiness sums up the results of the second rating of companies in the grain deep processing industry. The rating took into account the data of 23 companies that are engaged in deep processing of vegetable raw materials: wheat, corn and potatoes. The Grain Deep Processing Leaders rating reflects the overall assessment of the industry development and business prospects in the field of deep grain processing.
The Association of Grain Deep Processing Enterprises, together with the Agrobusiness magazine, is holding the second rating of companies in the industry “Leaders of Grain Deep Processing 2021”. The Russian branch of deep processing of agricultural raw materials is represented by 23 companies. The total grain processing capacity per day of all companies in the industry reaches 9209 tons per day. The total number of employees working in these companies is 5778 people, and the revenue is 170 billion rubles. in 2021.
The company rating methodology is based on the assessment of the following criteria: the processing capacity of agricultural raw materials and financial indicators - profits and revenues of companies for 2021.
Leads the rating in terms of raw material processing capacity of Cargill LLC. Behind him is Amilko LLC. The third line in the rating was occupied by JSC "BioTech Rosva", the fourth - by CJSC "Plant of Premixes No. 1". The top five is closed by Aston Starch-Products LLC. Chart 1 shows a comparative rating by refining capacity for 2020-2021. The top five leaders remained unchanged. However, the processing capacities of NewBio LLC, Rustark LLC and Mglinsky Starch LLC have increased.

Diagram 2 shows the comparative rating "Financial indicators of the enterprise" for 2020-2021. Cargill LLC, Premix Plant No. 1 CJSC and Amilco LLC have not changed their positions in the rating. AminoSib JSC and Aston Starch-Products LLC changed places.
NewBio LLC put the plant into operation in the third quarter of 2020, so the last rating took into account economic indicators for an incomplete year.
For a complete presentation of information about the industry of deep grain processing, a survey of companies was conducted in such areas as: "Innovativeness of the enterprise", "Social responsibility of business", "Prospects for the development of the company", "The company's contribution to the development of the industry of deep grain processing". 9 companies took part in the survey: NewBio LLC, Russtark LLC, Premix Plant No. 1 CJSC, Cargill LLC, Amilko LLC, Aston Starch-Products LLC, Amil LLC, JSC " Tatkrahmalpatoka, Mglinsky starch LLC.
Innovativeness of the enterprise
The deep processing industry is modern and innovative - all enterprises began their activities after 1992, most after 2000. All companies rated the degree of automation of their production at 50% or more.
In 2020, among the suppliers of technologies for production lines, the countries of Western Europe were in the first place, and Russian technologies were in the second place. In 2021, companies equally used the technologies of Russian suppliers and Western European countries. In second place in equal proportion are the technologies of China and the Middle East, including Turkey.
Business social responsibility
Within the framework of the criterion "Social responsibility of business", it is possible to single out the indicators of enterprises in terms of environmental friendliness and ethical approach to business, sustainable development (ESG) and social responsibility. 90% of the companies that took part in the survey have wastewater treatment facilities at their enterprises. 80% of factories have equipment for the protection of atmospheric air. All enterprises carry out periodic monitoring of environmental impact.
It should be noted that Russian companies take into account current trends. Thus, 60% of enterprises take into account sustainable development standards (ESG) in their activities. 70% of the companies surveyed took part in charitable or social events in 2021.
Prospects for the development of the company
The status of "Prospects for the development of the company" took into account plans for the launch of new products and business development until 2024 inclusive. 70% of companies plan to open new production lines and release new types of products. For example, rating participants noted that they plan to produce barley malt, biopolymers, organic acids, food modified starch. For these purposes, 90% of companies plan to purchase new equipment.
Within the framework of the status of “Prospects for the development of the company”, the following enterprises should be noted: CJSC Premix Plant No. 1 and LLC Russtark. These companies are already investing or planning to develop industry technology start-ups. In 2022, Amilco LLC launched the production of cationic and oxidized starches, and also built residential complexes for employees.
Companies plan to export new types of products, or increase the export of products, some will expand the staff.
The company's contribution to the development of the industry
80% of the surveyed companies are members of the Industry Association of Grain Deep Processing Enterprises: LLC Cargill, LLC Amilco, LLC ASTON Starch-Products, CJSC Premix Plant No. 1, LLC NewBio, OJSC Khobotovskoe Enterprise Starch Products ”, LLC Russtark, JSC AminoSib, JSC Chaplyginsky Starch Plant, LLC Starch Plant Kabarda, LLC Chuvashienkrakhmal, LLC Mglinsky Starch Plant, SPK Udacha, LLC Amil, LLC "Albion". Enterprises that are part of the Soyuzkrakhmal Association produce from 60% to 100% of various types of products for deep processing of grain. Through the association, companies interact with regulators and the industry community, including on making proposals for legislative acts.
In 2021, companies exported up to 30% of all their products. 50% of surveyed enterprises plan to increase their exports. 80% of companies produce or plan to produce products aimed at import substitution, for example, maltodextrin, biopolymers, modified starch, dry glucose syrups, gluten feeds, corn germ, lysine sulfate.
Companies are active in scientific and educational activities - the enterprises have employees with scientific degrees. In addition, the company's specialists participated as speakers at industry events, were the authors of articles in the media.
“For the second time we are holding the Leaders of Deep Grain Processing rating. This year, more companies took part in the survey, which indicates their openness and readiness for interaction. Also this time, we decided to post a complete list of all manufacturers of the deep grain processing market in order to form a complete picture of the industry. In the future, we plan to conduct the rating annually,” commented Oleg Radin, President of the Soyuzkrakhmal Association.
Ranking methodology
The company rating methodology is based on the assessment of the following criteria: the processing capacity of agricultural raw materials and financial indicators - profits and revenues of companies for 2021. The assessment was based on information from the Federal Tax Service of Russia and Rosstat, presented on the List-Org portal. Companies had the opportunity to correct data from open sources, in which case they sent supporting documents to the organizers. Companies with the same number of points occupy the same position in the ranking.
For a comprehensive assessment of the work of enterprises, a survey of companies was conducted, reflecting the following parameters: "Innovativeness of the enterprise", "Social responsibility of business", "Prospects for the development of the company", "The company's contribution to the development of the industry of deep grain processing".
