The region is located in a risky farming zone, which sometimes leads to significant crop losses, including due to weather conditions. To reduce economic risks, an insurance mechanism is used here, including programs with government support.
In 2019, only seven Lipetsk producers received subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of paying insurance premiums accrued under agricultural insurance contracts in the field of crop production. In 2021, this figure increased to 36, in 2022 – to 103, and in the current season, 126 agricultural enterprises have already benefited from state support.
During the calculation period, the insured sown area in the region also increased: from 44,4 thousand hectares in 2019 to 380 thousand hectares in 2023.
As Alexey Telkov, head of the Lipetsk Region Agriculture Department, noted, agricultural insurance is a kind of safety net for farmers. And local authorities will continue to develop this direction.
