The largest company in the Russian food market in terms of revenue, X5 Retail Group, announced that from April 6, a penalty system will be introduced for under-delivery of goods, which has already been applied earlier, they write. "Vedomosti".
Currently, the X5 Retail Group (Pyaterochka, Karusel and Perekrestok chain of stores) has already sent letters to its suppliers informing partners that fines for under-delivery of goods will be enforced again on April 6, 2020. It is reported that the second largest Magnet food retailer is preparing a similar letter to its suppliers. In addition, according to the representative of the Rusprodsoyuz supplier association, its participants have already received a warning about the resumption of the practice of fines for short deliveries of goods.
““ Magnet ”did not send letters about the abolition of the Moratorium on its part. The company as a whole is quite flexible in applying penalties, and does not apply them if there are objective reasons for short deliveries or failure to meet deadlines. This approach is in line with the spirit of the Moratorium, and we will adhere to these principles, especially in the current epidemiological environment. But precisely for this reason, we will carefully monitor the facts of unreasonable use of the situation with coronavirus for delays in deliveries or short deliveries, therefore, that this creates additional risks for our customers, ”the retailer’s press service commented.
Suppliers, in turn, see the retailers ’initiative as a flagrant violation of previous agreements, as they work overtime.
Recall that the Association of Retail Companies (ACORT) decided not to impose fines on suppliers and producers of goods for which there will be short deliveries. This decision was made in connection with the current situation in the country amid the spread of coronavirus. The representative of ACORT said that "the moratorium was introduced on a temporary basis, joining it was a voluntary decision of retail chains."
