Potato System magazine announced another important survey, the results of which will help assess the level of provision of Russian farms with seed potatoes on the eve of the sowing season.
The survey is conducted in a mobile application. Link to install the mobile application
We ask all potato growers answer five simple questions:
- Estimate (in percent) the level of provision of your farm with seed potatoes?
- What class of seeds will be used for commercial planting?
- Did you buy high reproduction seed potatoes for this season to update your own seed stock (for example, an elite for growing PC1, so that in a year these seeds could be used for the production of marketable products)?
- If the state compensates for the cost of purchasing seeds of new Russian varieties in the amount of 70% of the purchase price, will you be ready to completely or partially switch to growing domestic varieties?
- How often do you buy (renew) seed material?
The survey is anonymous. It is necessary that the results reflect the real state of affairs in the industry.
We have already received the first answers, on the basis of which we can conclude that there are no problems with the supply of seeds in the regions, but the quality of planting material is very different (about half of the respondents will use PC1 and almost the same number will use PC3 and lower). We also note the high interest of survey participants in Russian varieties of potatoes: more than half of the respondents are ready to introduce new products, and a third of farmers believe that they could completely switch to the cultivation of Russian varieties, provided that the yield and marketability of new products are comparable to the results of samples known on the market foreign selection.
The results of the survey are updated daily, except for weekends (you can get acquainted with this information in the mobile application).
The survey will run until April 15th. We really hope for your support and look forward to your objective answers.
The results of the survey will help us all make the first forecasts for this year's harvest. We will definitely tell about them on the website, in the mobile application and in the printed issue of the magazine.
