Potatoes are the third most important food crop in the world after rice and wheat; billions of people rely on this product as their diet. Today, potatoes are grown on an area of more than 20 million hectares in 150 countries, and the total world production is 359 million tons. According to FAO forecasts, production could increase to 500 million tons in 2025 and to 750 million tons in 2030. Currently, Asia and Africa are the regions with the greatest growth in potato production, while Europe and North America are in decline, but all producing countries are interested in increasing the gross yield of potatoes while reducing cultivation areas.
Increasing the efficiency of each hectare of potatoes is an important task of agro-industrial production; its solution makes it possible to increase gross yields without increasing production costs for seed material, plant protection products, etc., and therefore reduce cultivation costs.
The STONEFERT company has its own unique technology for processing natural minerals, which makes it possible to create fertilizers that provide plants with such important mesoelements for potatoes as calcium, magnesium, sulfur, silicon, iron with an increased degree of bioavailability. In 2023, company specialists conducted a production test of foliar fertilizers Folimin Classic и Folimin Mg in the Kostroma region.
The combination of these two most popular brand products allows you to fully take into account the needs of potatoes at each stage of their development. Folimin Classic contains 38,48% calcium oxide, 11,92% silicon oxide, 6,08% magnesium oxide, 6,5% iron oxide, humic and fulvic acids. At the beginning of the growing season, when the rows are closed, the first fertilizing is carried out, the effect of which is aimed at creating healthy, actively vegetating plants and laying a larger number of tubers. Two further treatments enhance photosynthesis, tuber growth, and the formation of a strong peel, since the composition Folimina Mg 12 reinforced with double the amount of magnesium - 12,54% oxide, contains 3% sulfur trioxide.
The experiment was carried out on the Colomba variety, superelite. Seed plot: soil – leached chernozem, medium-humus, medium-thick, medium-loamy. Row spacing – 90 cm, planting density – 56 pcs./ha. Potatoes were planted on May 000, biological yield recording was carried out on August 22. Weather conditions during the potato planting period were at the level of average long-term indicators, and already in June there was a lack of moisture (3% less) at lower air temperatures (36 Cо less than the long-term average). July passed with average temperatures and increased precipitation.

Three-time use of the company's flagship preparations showed excellent results: the treated plants had a more developed root system, the above-ground part was 22% higher, that is, the plants functioned more actively, which had a positive effect on yield.

Since the experiment was carried out on a seed plot, the main task was to obtain a larger number of tubers of a certain fraction. Due to the STONEFERT technology, the number of tubers per bush increased by 28,6%, the tubers were more aligned and of the required seed fraction. It is worth noting that the increase in yield in the experimental plot was quite high, which suggests that foliar feeding with these preparations can more fully reveal the genetic potential of varieties, allowing them to achieve the highest possible efficiency under equal soil and climatic conditions.
