On February 15, participants in an expedition to Peru, organized by the Potato System magazine with the support of the Potato Union and the POTATOES NEWS portal, visited Machu Picchu, an ancient city located six kilometers from the village of Aguas Calientes, on the top of a mountain range at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level dominating the valley of the Urubamba River. In 2007, the city was awarded the title of New Wonder of the World.
Travelers received a lot of positive impressions from traveling by train and bus (along a memorable serpentine road).
The group also managed to visit local storage facilities for vegetables and potatoes.
On February 16, the group went to visit farmers growing traditional potato varieties - to the Potato Park. The program includes initiation into potato farming, trying on national costumes and a gala dinner with potatoes baked over a fire.
