Minister of Agriculture Of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev met with the Deputy Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Vladimir Rakhmanin and the sub-regional coordinator for Central Asia - FAO Representative in Uzbekistan Viorel Gutsu.
The parties signed the Country Framework Program between FAO and Uzbekistan for 2021-2025, Sputnik reports.
This document will be a guide to action for further FAO activities in Uzbekistan.
The program is aimed at supporting the republic in achieving national strategic priorities related to the transformation of the food system. The main directions are inclusive development of human capital leading to health, well-being and sustainable prosperity, as well as sustainable development and development taking into account climate change.
The budget for the program is $ 17 million.
Also, a new project agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and FAO for the restoration and development of the potato industry in the republic.
Support for the production and management of rice crops, support in the implementation of inclusive agricultural policies will be organized.
New projects will be implemented until 2023, their total cost is more than half a million dollars.
