Plowing has begun in the Nadym region: seven hectares of sown area will be planted with potatoes.
A field near Nadym was rented by farmer Alexander Borodin. With two varieties of root crops - gala and rosary, he plans to collect up to 80 tons of the crop, the department of the agro-industrial complex of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Varieties selected are early ripe, with a short ripening period of up to 70 days, this is optimal for the northern regions.
Alexander Borodin purchased 15 tons of seed potatoes in the Tyumen region. Planned landing at the end of May. For the farmer, this is the first experience in crop production. His Nadym farm is known for the fact that for two years now it has been breeding herefords - beef cattle. Now, for a new direction, specialized equipment has been partially acquired at the expense of the district budget, and partially - within the framework of the state program "Development of the agro-industrial complex". In addition, for the sale of products, the farm will receive district subsidies in the direction of “production of potatoes and vegetables”.
We add that this year the fields will be cultivated by Yamal Potato LLC in Salekhard, the Pripolyarnaya and Tolkinskaya agricultural firms in the Krasnoselkupsky District and the Muzhevskoye municipal agricultural enterprise in the Shuryshkarsky District. The total sown area is over 40 hectares.
