The Georgian government is launching a new program to support farmer cooperatives. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia at a briefing after a government meeting, the Vestnik Kavkaza portal reports.
According to the head of the department, it is important to support the growth of agricultural production in order to increase the country's self-sufficiency, Sputnik Georgia reports.
Shamgaliya stressed that the authorities will take on up to 80% of the funding for the creation of vegetable stores. He explained that vegetable farmers will be able to unite, form a cooperative and, if the requirements of the program are met, they will receive a grant from the state in the amount of a maximum of 80% of the total cost of the project.
We are talking about co-financing projects for the construction of storage facilities for vegetables and potatoes with a capacity of 500 tons.
