The PotatoEuropo 2010 exhibition really turned out to be very interesting and, most importantly, useful, as we understood from the feedback from the participants of our “potato” delegation consisting of 29 people from different regions of the Russian Federation who responded to our offer and together with us became full participants in this significant event.
"What do you remember about the exhibition and what useful things will you take home with you?" - with such a question the editors of the "Potato System" addressed the delegation members at the end of the event.

The exhibition pleasantly impressed me in the sense that the samples of equipment were presented not only at the stands, but also in the field. The machines were demonstrated about work, moreover, in difficult conditions, about the period of waterlogging of the soil (editor's note - the weather in Germany during the days of the exhibition was rather cloudy). And I must say, all the equipment worked great. Indeed, foreigners are very good at presenting their goods, which we only need to learn. They already have vast experience accumulated over the centuries, while we are only moving our market, focusing on the West.

- Since I am abroad for the first time, everything was new and interesting for me. As for the exhibition itself, it was very useful to compare the technological aspect of sowing. For example, we use the usual, maybe even ancient technology: first we cut the ridges, plant the potatoes, remove the tops, and then we start the harvester, at the exhibition there were presented units that do everything in a complex way: the planter plants immediately after the plow, and the harvester removes together with a topper. And all from it in one pass, that is, you get savings - just two passes! At the moment, we need to learn from foreign colleagues to work with the greatest profitability in order to cultivate potatoes more economically ...

- Major equipment manufacturers were represented at the exhibition. And if before that I had doubts about the quality of this technique, then after the trip they disappeared. I was able to make sure that this technique is technologically more advanced and, unfortunately, surpasses the Russian one. And when Russian farmers buy imported equipment, this is undoubtedly justified, since some Russian equipment will not go far. Unreliable machinery can also ruin a farmer's plans. As for seed production, I think they have a lot to learn from us. I was convinced of this when I was in the seed centers of Holland, as well as when communicating with German colleagues. The aeroponic technologies that we develop at our institute for the industrial production of healthy potatoes are ahead of foreign ones in efficiency. They are already successfully being introduced into the system of domestic seed production, centers for the production of healthy seed potatoes are being created. In my opinion, Russia has a potential that will soon be in demand, because Europe will not be able to provide everyone and everyone forever, they will not always have favorable conditions (as can be judged by the latest climate changes). Undoubtedly, the time will come for Russia. Therefore, we must be prepared that we ourselves will produce seeds. And not only food, but also seed potatoes, we will be able to export to Europe and Asia. In general, the exhibition was also very pleased by the fact that it united a group of like-minded people, with whom these days passed not only pleasantly, but also with benefit. And that. in my opinion, the most important thing! |
