According to EastFruit, the potato segment this week was characterized by an increase in prices in most countries that are regularly monitored by the project.
Meanwhile, carrot prices have changed only in Moldova and Uzbekistan (upward and downward, respectively).
Potato
Returned to the first place in the potato prices ranking Moldova, where over the week these products have risen in price by 10-16% to 32-41 cents per kg. Meanwhile, prices in Ukraine, the leader of the previous week, remained the same: 30-38 cents per kg.
It should be noted that in the markets of both Moldova and Ukraine, the main suppliers of potatoes remained Russia и Belarus, where the prices for potatoes made it possible to carry out active exports despite the rather low quality of products in export consignments. In general, prices on the Russian market varied in a fairly wide range from 10 cents per kg to 22 cents per kg, while in Belarus it was possible to buy potatoes at 14-24 cents per kg.
The difference in prices for Russian potatoes in the main producing regions, depending on the sales channel, was indicative. Thus, for the local market, products were sold at 11-13 cents per kg, while potatoes for export to Ukraine and Moldova were sold at prices reaching 16 cents per kg and 18 cents per kg, respectively.
Russian potatoes also made up the bulk of the supply on the market. Of Uzbekistan, where prices for the week increased by 9-14% to 25-28 cents per kg. Has risen in price to 23-27 cents per kg and products in neighboring Uzbekistan Tajikistan, although the market was dominated by local potatoes.
Prices this week also increased by Georgia и Poland... At the end of the reporting period, on the Georgian market, potatoes were offered on average at 28 cents per kg, while in Poland prices for domestic products reached 26-33 cents per kg. The Polish market also saw potatoes imported from the Netherlands or Belgium at prices ranging from 29 cents per kg to 39 cents per kg.
Carrots
The situation on the carrot market remained more stable, and the main changes were recorded in Moldova and Uzbekistan. So, on the Moldovan market, prices for the week rose by 10-13% to 26-32 cents per kg. Thus, Moldova, as well as in the potato segment, took the first place in the ranking in terms of carrot prices, ahead of Georgia... At the Georgian market, meanwhile, carrots, like a week earlier, were offered at 28-34 cents per kg.
Prices in other countries were at least a third lower than in Moldova and Georgia. In the markets of Russia и Belarus carrots could be purchased at 13-26 cents per kg and 14-24 cents per kg, respectively. V Poland prices varied between 13-18 cents per kg, and in Ukraine were 11-15 cents per kg. Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan prices for carrots slightly decreased to 8-10 cents per kg, reaching similar market indicators Tajikistan.
