Potato System magazine publishes a daily report on the situation in the table potato market. We receive information about prices and harvesting progress from agricultural producers from different regions of Russia.
It seems that domestic potato growers have come to terms with the idea that the current season will not bring them big profits. And this is at best. Such is the agricultural business - unpredictable and extremely risky.
Having the opportunity to send part of the crop for storage, many farms have postponed the sale of tubers until spring. Producers believe that by the beginning of March the cost of a kilogram of ware potatoes on the wholesale market may rise to an average of 25 rubles.
As of December 14, 2022, table potatoes in batches of 20 tons or more were sold in Russia at a price of 12 to 30 rubles per kilogram.
The cheapest tubers were in the republics of Buryatia and Kabardino-Balkaria, in the Ryazan, Tver and Yaroslavl regions (12,00 rubles/kg).
Prices were slightly higher in Irkutsk, Sverdlovsk (14,00 rubles/kg), Kirov, Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk regions and Altai Territory (15,00 rubles/kg).
