The agricultural department advocated the adoption of a bill providing for an increase in the amount of fines for violating regulations on the use of pesticides in agriculture. This was announced during a meeting at the Federation Council by Roman Nekrasov, director of the department of crop production, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The official recalled that regulations for the use of pesticides are being developed with the participation of major research institutes. Compliance with them ensures that no damage will be caused to animal or plant objects other than those against which the pesticide is designed.
Roman Nekrasov also added that work is currently ongoing to improve the FSIS Saturn. Its goal is to provide the opportunity to obtain more complete information on how plant protection products are used on Russian farms.
