The agricultural department expects that the sown area in 2024 will increase by 300 thousand hectares. As a result, the target of 84,5 million hectares will be achieved. Almost 56 million hectares are allocated for spring sowing, 20 million hectares for winter crops, and the rest will be taken up by perennial forage crops.
The RUSEED analytical center predicts that in the new season the crops of spring wheat and barley will decrease due to an increase in the area under winter crops. But the indicators for corn, potatoes and sugar beets will remain approximately at the level of 2023.
According to data from the regions, farmers in the south of Russia and the North Caucasus will be able to go to the fields in mid-February. The weather forecast available for today gives reason to believe that by this time it will be warm here.
