Miratorg Holding is activating the development of its vegetable division and may start exporting these products, Kommersant reports with reference to industry market participants.
According to a publication on the HeadHunter portal, the holding is looking for an export sales manager in the direction of “Vegetables”, whose tasks will include searching for manufacturers, importers and distributors in foreign markets.
The holding is already engaged in crop production, produces pet food, frozen vegetables, and also develops a supermarket chain. In 2018, he invested 6,4 billion rubles. in the production of vegetables in the Tula region with a capacity of 100 thousand tons per year. The project involved the cultivation of potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions and garlic on an area of more than 3 thousand hectares, as well as the construction of a plant with facilities for storage, processing and packaging of products. The company intends to deploy another production of vegetables and potatoes with a capacity of 300 thousand tons per year in the Stavropol Territory, where it acquired about 7 thousand hectares of land from the AVG Capital Partners fund.
Export of vegetables is a promising direction, says Mikhail Glushkov, director of the Fruit and Vegetable Union. However, production should be located close to the border, since transporting vegetables over long distances is unprofitable due to their low price and short shelf life, and in Russia there is still a lack of storage capacity, the expert warns. He does not exclude that Miratorg will start exporting frozen products that can be stored longer without loss of quality.
Earlier it was reported that Miratorg plans to occupy the most successful areas in the center of Moscow, which will be vacated as a result of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The company is going to open its Burger & Fries burger shops on the site of other restaurants.
