A number of regions in 2023 will receive additional funding to reimburse part of the costs of agricultural producers for carrying out measures in the field of land reclamation. Orders on the redistribution of over 535,5 million rubles for these purposes were signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the website Government of Russia.
The funds will be sent to 26 regions. These are Bashkiria, Buryatia, Dagestan, the Republic of Mari El, Ingushetia, Tyva, North Ossetia, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, as well as Astrakhan, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kirov, Kostroma, Kurgan, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Penza, Pskov, Tula, Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk regions and Jewish Autonomous Region.
With the help of federal funding, reclamation measures will be carried out in the regions, including the construction and reconstruction of irrigation and drainage systems and hydraulic structures, as well as clearing land of woody and herbaceous vegetation. This will expand the stock of agricultural land, which in turn will ensure the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex and will serve to achieve the country’s food security goals.
The work is being carried out within the framework of the state program for the effective involvement of agricultural land in circulation and the development of the reclamation complex, which was approved by the Government in 2021. The main goal is to bring into circulation more than 13 million hectares of agricultural land.
