Ensuring the country's food security, as well as import substitution, are priorities for authorities at all levels. In the Samara region, much attention is paid to supporting agricultural producers. So, this year, five enterprises took advantage of the financial assistance measure - the Agroprogress grant in the amount of 30 million rubles.
Among them is the Agrostar company, which introduced a new potato variety, Julia, to the market. It has been six months since the successful development of Samara scientists was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation.
At the selection center of Agrostar LLC, they are also engaged in growing other potato varieties. Among them are Sevim, Grand and Alva.
– We plan to harvest Sevim potatoes in early July. We want to harvest two crops. The Grand variety shows the best yield, it is red-tuberous. But the most important thing we have now is a new hybrid - Alva. It is undergoing state varietal tests and, we hope, in the future will be included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements,” says Natalya Zaitseva, technologist and laboratory assistant at the Agrostar selection center.
The founder of Agrostar LLC, Vladimir Molyanov, notes that the company used the grant received in the form of 30% of the amount of costs to purchase equipment for watering, sorting and storing potatoes.
“This will allow, on the one hand, to improve the economics of the enterprise, and on the other, to fulfill the task set by the Ministry of Agriculture - to increase the production of Russian varieties. For this purpose, we will use the funds received, he stressed.
Everyone can appreciate the benefits of new varieties of potatoes 10 of August. On this day, in the village of Strogankino, Pokhvistnevsky district, Samara region, a Field Day "Development of selection and seed production of potatoes".
