In January-April 2019, 50,4 thousand tons of carrots were imported to Russia, which is 0,9% (0,4 thousand tons) less than in January-April 2018. The main suppliers of carrots in 2019 are Israel (56,0% of the total), China (29,3%), Egypt (13,1%), Serbia (0,8%), Uzbekistan (0,6%). In April 2019, 24,3 thousand tons of carrots were imported to the Russian Federation (growth over the month - by 64,2% or 9,5 thousand tons, over the year - by 3,3% or by 0,8 thousand tons ).
Imported Carrot Prices
In 2018, the cost of importing 1 ton of carrots amounted to 467,8 USD (28 708,4 RUB / t). Over the year, prices increased by 6,3% (in rubles - by 12,6%).
As of January-April 2019, prices were at the level of 488,7 USD / t (31 808,4 RUB / t). The decrease compared to January-April 2018 amounted to 1,0% (in rubles prices rose by 9,7%).
Average prices for carrots imported to Russia in April 2019 amounted to USD 479,1 / t, which is 5,3% lower than the price level of April 2018. In two years, prices rose by 13,8%. In terms of rubles, the average prices for carrots imported into the Russian Federation, as of April 2019, were at the level of 30 954,5 RUB / t. Over the year, prices increased by 0,7%, over two years - by 30,3%.
In the 2019/2020 sales season, due to the high price level in the previous season (see weekly potato and vegetable market reviews from AB Center), there is a high probability of an increased supply of domestic carrots.
