Due to the emergence of resistant populations Phytophthora infestans (the causative agent of late blight), loss of effectiveness of many plant protection products in the context of popularization of the use of integrated protection techniques in potato growing, an association of specialists dealing with late blight and Alternaria blight was created in Europe. The result of the experts’ work is EuroBlight platform with a convenient user interface and useful functionality for practitioners and plant pathologists.
The main goals of creating a consortium of scientists, practitioners and all interested parties in relation to Phytophthora infestans and creating EuroBlight platforms It was:
- Obtaining information about the genetic structure of phytopathogen populations in European countries, tracking its changes over time in order to understand climatic and anthropogenic factors influencing population changes Phytophthora infestans. Population monitoring data for the phytopathogen (in map form and by country) are available at the link: https://agro.au.dk/forskning/internationale-platforme/euroblight/pathogen-monitoring/genotype-map;
- Development and popularization of effective methods of integrated protection, taking into account the information received. Information on best practices for controlling late blight can be found at: https://agro.au.dk/forskning/internationale-platforme/euroblight/control-strategies/best-practice;
- Informing interested parties about the results of testing the effectiveness of using plant protection products against late blight for different parts of the plant (in the form of summary tables). Information on the results of testing the effectiveness of the use of plant protection products against late blight in English is available at the link (https://agro.au.dk/forskning/internationale-platforme/euroblight/control-strategies/late-blight-fungicide-table).
