Potatoes are the second bread; they are grown by both summer residents and large agricultural holdings. In appearance, the process is simple: planted, hilled, grew, removed tops, harvested. But doing this on an industrial scale and profitably is not easy. For this you need high-quality seed material. Specialists of the Agricultural Firm “Glory to Potatoes” share the secrets of obtaining them.
- Before planting, we submit the tubers for analysis to the laboratory. We use four-field crop rotation.
- The soil temperature during planting is not lower than 8 °C. The pitch and planting depth depend on the variety and fraction. We use disinfectants to protect tubers from diseases and pests. For precision landing we use GPS equipment.
- We carry out phyto-cleaning to remove unhealthy potato plants. We treat fields with plant protection products against weeds, insect pests and for disease prevention.
- Watering is carried out using circular sprinklers. Using data from weather stations in the fields, we regulate the amount of precipitation.
- As soon as the potatoes reach the seed fraction, remove the tops. To prevent diseases from entering the tubers through it, we use desiccants.
- We harvest potatoes no earlier than two weeks after desiccation. The temperature during harvesting is below 21 ° C. We separate the tubers from the soil and plant debris.
- The height of tubers falling when moving along the conveyor is less than 30 cm to avoid mechanical damage. Place the potatoes in storage and gradually reduce the temperature to 3°C.
The process of obtaining high-quality seed material is not so simple; it requires knowledge, equipment, and extensive experience. But only the right seed material can provide a high yield. The agricultural company “Glory to Potatoes” recommends that you use only this one.
