Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a regular interdepartmental meeting on food security and the price situation in the global and Russian agricultural markets, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reports.
Speaking about the course of the sowing campaign, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that more than 42 million hectares were sown with spring crops, which is about 80% of the projected area. With favorable weather, a decent harvest is expected, which will ensure the domestic market and export potential.
Separately, Dmitry Patrushev dwelled on customs regulation measures aimed at ensuring the stability of the domestic market. Thus, in order to prevent price increases, the Ministry of Agriculture proposed to introduce a temporary ban on the export of domestic raw rice and rice groats outside the EAEU. From April 15 to August 31, there are quotas for the export of sunflower oil and cake. At the same time, according to calculations, production may exceed the initial forecasts, so the Ministry proposed to increase the quotas for oil by 400 thousand tons, for cake - by 150 thousand tons. Both proposals have already been approved by the relevant working group of the Government Commission on Economic Development and Integration.
Saturation of the domestic market contributes to the stabilization of prices for agricultural products and foodstuffs. So, for example, the selling price of cucumbers and tomatoes, eggs, pork, chicken meat and lamb decreased over the month. There has also been a trend towards a seasonal decline in prices for borscht vegetables.
