The Stavropol Territory plans to increase potato production in 2022. As the governor of the region Vladimir Vladimirov noted during a direct line with residents of the region, the authorities are systematically working to curb food prices. They believe that the main reason for the rise in the price of potatoes is a poor harvest and have developed a solution to this issue for the future.
Now a regional program for the development of vegetable growing is being created, which will allow the region to provide itself with vegetables for 100%. In addition, the authorities plan to increase the number of vegetable sales outlets, as they see this as the only way to fight dealers in market conditions. In the region, the number of such outlets has already increased by 18%.
The Governor also called the increase in the cost of fertilizers as one of the possible reasons for the rise in prices for farmers' products, for some items - by 2-4 times. He allowed the possibility of direct subsidies to potato producers, similar to the enterprises producing sugar, bread and vegetable oil. In 2021, almost 340 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for such support.
