RANEPA experts published a report on “Monitoring the economic situation” with updated crop data that are at variance with the statistics from Rosstat collected over 10 years.
In particular, the collection of vegetables and melons and gourds adjusted down by 17,2%, or 2,6 million tons. The difference in the production of fruits and berries was 8,2%, or 268 thousand tons. The largest discrepancies between the actual and declared figures were found when calculating the volume of potatoes - 35,9%. Taking into account the adjustments, it would be fair to say that the potato harvest in Russia is falling.
“After 2007, according to Rosstat reports, there was another growth (on average by 240 thousand tons per year). After the 2016 census, the data was corrected again: it turned out that in 2017 the gross harvest was not 29,6 million tons, but only 21,3 million. And during this period, as it turned out, there was not an increase, but a decline in production: compared to initial data for 2007 by 15,5 million tons, compared with the adjusted - by 5,9 million tons ", - says the report at RANEPA.
As follows from the report, in 2000 they produced 34 million tons of potatoes, and by 2007 they increased the harvest to 36,8 million tons. However, according to the All-Russian Agricultural Census, over the years, production declined to 27,2 million tons. In monetary terms, the volume of actually produced agricultural products in the Russian Federation turned out to be 542 billion rubles less than declared.
