McDonald's restaurants that will close in Russia on March 14 may reopen in a month and a half, TASS reports.
“According to experts, the solution to such problems that have arisen before the company may take about a month and a half, 45 days,” the agency’s source said.
On Tuesday, the American corporation McDonald's announced that it would temporarily close all its restaurants in Russia and suspend all operations in the Russian market due to events around Ukraine. From March 14, it is planned to suspend service at McDonald's network enterprises throughout Russia, while the company's office and the Ronald McDonald House charity foundation will continue to operate as usual. All employees, according to McDonald's, will remain with the company and continue to receive a full salary, as well as retain all current benefits and guarantees from the employer.
At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted that domestic catering chains could replace about 250 McDonald's restaurants closed in Moscow per year. According to him, 99% of food products in Moscow restaurants are supplied by Russian suppliers. The authorities of the capital decided to allocate 500 million rubles for preferential targeted lending to create an additional fast food chain.
