The Rosconservprom Association will prepare proposals related to the development of the fruit and vegetable canning industry into a draft strategy for the development of food and processing
industry of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030, developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

According to the Department of Food and Processing Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in 2018, 9837,8 million cans (3,9 million tons) of canned fruits and vegetables were produced in Russia, which is 0,1 percent more than in 2017. About 300 large and medium enterprises operate in the industry, but their capacities are used only by 48%.
Specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture note that the main problems of the industry are insufficient local production of vegetables, fruits and berries, which leads to a shortage of raw materials, as well as outdated production facilities.
According to the developed strategy for the development of the food and processing industry, investments in updating and building capacities for the production of canned fruits and vegetables, bottling juices, drying and freezing vegetables, and the production of tomato paste from Russian raw materials should amount to 2030 billion rubles by 41, and the volume of production by this time grow by 18% to 11600 billion cans (4,6 million tons).
The tasks set by the Roskonservprom Association also include the creation of a working group of industry representatives to address pressing issues in the field of technical regulation and ensuring the quality of products.
“In the future, the Roskonservprom Association will discuss the issue of introducing electronic marking with control identification marks (KIZ) of food processing enterprises, the use of iodized salt in the production of canned goods in the light of the discussion of the draft federal law“ On the prevention of diseases caused by iodine deficiency ”and participation enterprises of the industry in the project of voluntary food labeling "Traffic Light"- said the head of the association.
