Rosselkhoznadzor will not restrict potato imports from China; representatives of the PRC, in turn, invited representatives of the service to check the places of production of pome and stone fruit crops, the Rosselkhoznadzor said following negotiations held by the head of the department Sergey Dankvert and the general director of the Food Security Bureau of the General Customs Administration of the PRC Bi Kexin.
Since the summer of 2019, the Rosselkhoznadzor has introduced a number of restrictions on the import of certain types of food from the PRC to Russia due to problems with the quality of goods. Since August 10 of last year, the import of pome and stone fruit crops (including apples, plums and peaches) from China has been suspended, since January 6, 2020, the import of citrus fruits has been limited, and since January 9 - aquaculture products.
At the same time, in December, the department also admitted the possibility of limiting the supply of potatoes from China. “Regarding the supply of potatoes to Russia, the Chinese side announced that it had suspended the export of products from the zones in which quarantine objects for Russia were found. In addition, the PRC State Technical University will study the list of all quarantine facilities for Russia and analyze the country's territory for their identification, ”the statement said on Friday.
