The latest export data on the website of the Dutch Onion Association shows that in the 39th week of 2022, a lot of onions went to Senegal again, reports Nnieuweoogst.nl portal.
About 7600 tons of products were sent to the West African country that week. Based on these data, Senegal takes the lead in terms of exports this season (65 tons).
In second place in terms of exports this season after Senegal is Côte d'Ivoire. In the 39th week, 5700 tons were sent to Côte d'Ivoire. And the total volume of supplies to this country today is 55 tons.
The top 5 also includes the UK (35 tons), Guinea (700 tons) and Nicaragua (21 tons).
Until recently, Belgium was among the major buyers of Dutch onions, but this season the Belgians have almost halved the volume of purchases (compared to last year). Mali's exports are also still far behind the 2021-2022 figures. In the 39th week (1245 tons), the country purchased even less than in the 38th week (1255 tons).
In general, for the first thirteen weeks of the 2022-2023 export season. about 110 countries bought 355 tons of onions from the Netherlands.
