Potato biogrowth stimulators are used in plantings in critical phases of development: before planting for better nitrogen uptake, during germination for stronger root growth, before flowering to stimulate tuber formation and during their development.
Flemish Stam Agro is a newly formed Belgian company that focuses on research and development to create innovative products based on poultry waste.
The company has developed a new Aphasol biostimulant for leaf spraying. The active ingredient is amino acids extracted from the waste of poultry factories. This product in experiments increased the size of tubers by 5 cm. The tool has already been tested in 2021 on more than 400 hectares.
The manufacturing firm ensures that the potatoes receive efficient nutrition and are also more resistant to stresses such as heat and drought.
According to Stam Agro business development manager Matthijs de Deigere, after testing, the results met expectations: “We recorded an average additional income for farmers of 16 percent. The use of Aphasol also resulted in improved potato quality and 18,6% of tubers were 50 millimeters larger in the test fields compared to the control.”
