The cold summer 2017 hit the farmers of the Leningrad Region the hardest. The high technologies used in the modern agro-industrial complex are just an attempt to compensate for low temperatures and a bad climate.
However, now the employees of agricultural enterprises are confident in the success and in the harvest. They even laid out a temporary bus route through the fields with a guide NTV correspondent Edmund Zhelbunov.
150 hectares by the standards of the economy - only 1/14 of all food land. You cannot inspect such areas except by bus. It is no coincidence that the sightseeing tour begins in the salon. Fortunately, this year, indeed, there is something to be proud of: these potato plantations provide a quarter of the total demand in the entire region.
First stop at 100 hectares of white cabbage. Compared to last season, when they lost almost half of the harvest of vegetables and grains, the situation is not so critical: they are only two weeks behind. Mainly, of course, due to the temperature regime and the lack of sunny days.
Sergey Yakhnyuk, Vice-Governor of the Leningrad Region: “This year we never expected the weather to change so dramatically. We hope that the end of July and August will allow us to compensate for the deficit that we receive today. "
In such a situation, advanced technologies save: potatoes, for example, are stored already in a vacuum. Well, if there is a shortage in some direction, other industries also help. A separate reason for pride is the mushroom body.
Mukhazhir Etuev, general director of the breeding plant: “Some industry does not always hold out. Last year we were pulled out by animal husbandry, so our company is much more stable on its feet. We feel much more comfortable compared to our colleagues. "
According to the director, the plant has already switched to a closed cycle and is almost independent of suppliers. In fact, they grow everything necessary to provide for the farm and set the table. Moreover, with a scientific approach.
Seed potatoes are cultivated on this farm, literally, at the cellular level. The entire technological chain - from a test tube to a garden bed - prototypes pass in a special laboratory.
However, while the laboratory is studying mainly elite imported varieties. If the plant workers do not have problems with nightshades (they themselves call themselves legislators in the field of potato growing), then carrots and corn still cause concern.
They also have no doubt that the enterprise itself, with billions of dollars in annual revenue, will soon be able to reach new heights. Hope for a milk processing plant, which will be completed in December. And the first potato crates will start filling next week.
