The Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov signed the Decree of the Republic on the provision of subsidies to stimulate an increase in the production of potatoes and vegetables, reports official website of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
Crop production is the basis of food security. An important component of the industry is vegetable growing.
“According to the results of last year, self-sufficiency in the republic for potatoes is 135%, for cucumbers - 136%. 95% of potatoes and 87% of all vegetables in the region are produced in the non-commodity sector, that is, in household plots. To increase the production of these crops, the implementation of the federal project "Development of vegetable and potato growing industries" will begin next year. About 5 billion rubles have been allocated in the country's budget for these purposes. Our republic also participates in the project. In 2023, about 71 million rubles from the federal and regional budgets will be allocated to stimulate the increase in the production of potatoes and vegetables,” the Prime Minister said.
Bashkortostan ranks 9th among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in potato production, and 13th in vegetable production.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic has developed a procedure for granting subsidies within the framework of the federal project "Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing Industries", which is aimed at stimulating the growth of production and sales of potatoes and vegetables, including in households. From January 1, 2023, owners of household plots registered as self-employed will be able to reimburse part of the costs for the production of vegetables and potatoes, as well as elite seed production.
“The Ministry of Agriculture needs to ensure the volume of potato production in the republic in 2023 at least 500 thousand tons, vegetables - at least 300 thousand tons,” Andrey Nazarov instructed.
