At a meeting with the head of the republic, the start of field work related to harvesting was announced. Bad weather conditions have made adjustments to the plans of farmers. According to Minister of Agriculture Sergei Artamonov, the current weather conditions have caused the work, which is scheduled to start two weeks earlier on schedule, to begin only now.
There are areas that have been less affected by rains; harvesting is already in full swing. For example, they started to harvest potatoes in the Yalchik, Tsivilsky districts. They say that if precipitation stops during the week, then in the Yalchik region they will also begin to harvest peas. And they started to collect the olive saffron milk in the Vurnarsky district.
Experts note that, according to forecasts, rains are likely to occur, which can lead to lodging of crops. Therefore, to reduce losses when harvesting such crops, it is recommended to use special equipment for combines. These are special stem lifters that are worn before field work.
By the way, on July 28, the head signed a decree on the introduction of an emergency regime due to the fact that adverse weather conditions were observed in the republic from May to July. Constant rains and low temperatures became the reasons that spring sowing began 2 weeks later, respectively, and ended later. And the whole schedule went astray. Aging began later, the harvest is still not going, although last year work began on July 15th.
According to the Chuvash Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the moisture supply in the soil is 1,5-2 times higher than normal, and in some areas of the republic - 4-5 times.
This all led to the fact that in all cultures there is a high activity of aphids, and increased moisture will eventually lead to blackening of the spike.
