Opening the meeting, Nariman Abdulmutalibov noted the relevance of the development of vegetable and potato growing in the light of ensuring food security. According to him, Dagestan has good potential in these and other areas of agriculture, which must be developed with the help of state support.
Sharip Sharipov spoke in detail about the state and problems of development of vegetable and potato growing.
He recalled that Dagestan accounts for 11,5% of the total volume of vegetables produced in Russia, and specifically for cabbage - 27%. The Republic is the absolute leader in the development of vegetable growing in the country.
In the region, open ground vegetables occupy an area of about 40 thousand hectares. Moreover, over the past year, these areas in the commodity sector (agricultural organizations and peasant farms) increased by 36,5% - up to 1983 hectares, and under potatoes - by 76%.
The First Deputy Minister said that in 2023 Dagestan vegetable and potato growers will receive new forms of state support. For the first time it will be received by private household plots, which is extremely important for the republic, given their predominant role in the production of these crops. In particular, farmers will receive reimbursement of part of the costs for the production of open field vegetables and potatoes, for the purchase of elite seeds of these crops or hybrids, as well as reimbursement for the implementation of agrotechnological work per hectare of sown area (for the commodity sector). In this regard, it is important to organize work at the local level to involve private household plots in the state support system, further strengthen the scientific support of these industries, and expand the practice of introducing modern technologies.
Other participants, including the heads of agricultural enterprises, also spoke at the event. A fruitful dialogue took place between all those who are interested in the development of these areas of agriculture.
In conclusion, Nariman Abdulmutalibov drew the attention of municipal leaders and farmers to the need to produce branded and organic products. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, these areas are the future, and the republic should not lag behind.
