Sowing of early vegetables in the open field has started in Crimea. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk. This year it is planned to sow vegetables on an area of more than 6 hectares, potatoes - more than 3 hectares.
“Farmers start sowing with early vegetables: onions, carrots, cabbage. Now work is underway in eight districts, including Simferopol, Dzhankoy, Pervomaisky and Krasnogvardeisky. More than 500 hectares have already been sown with vegetable crops. The work will be completed around April. Later, in June-August, they will start sowing late vegetables. After harvesting, the products will go to storage. In recent years, our farmers have given preference to domestic varieties, which are ideally suited to the Crimean climate. The largest areas of fields occupied by open ground vegetables are located in Krasnoperekopsky, Dzhankoysky, Pervomaisky, Krasnogvardeysky and Nizhnegorsky districts,” commented Andrey Savchuk.
The head of the Crimean Ministry of Agriculture focused on the fact that since last year, farmers who grow vegetables have been receiving state support from the ministry to carry out agrotechnological work.
“More than 30 million rubles were allocated for this direction this year and last year. Agricultural producers can spend the subsidy on the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, protective equipment and the costs of the work itself. Let me remind you that last year the harvest of vegetables was 9% more than in 2021, potatoes - 14% more,” the minister added.
