Farms in the Vsevolozhsk, Gatchina and Lomonosov districts have begun harvesting early vegetables, reports the press service of the Government of the Leningrad Region. The first 58 tons of cabbage, beets, zucchini and green crops have been harvested.
Vegetables are supplied to wholesale distribution bases for sale to regional retail chains.
“While selective, manual collection of vegetables is underway, from Monday we plan to begin mass collection of early vegetables using combine harvesters. Technological processes in crop production have long been automated, and we cope with harvesting without the involvement of chefs. The region subsidizes the purchase of modern equipment for farmers in order to minimize manual labor, maintain product quality and increase production efficiency,” noted Oleg Malashchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region, Chairman of the Committee on the Agricultural and Fishery Complex.
The volume of budgetary support for crop production in 2023 is more than 1,4 billion rubles, technical and technological modernization - 610 million rubles.
