The Omsk Agrarian Research Center plans to increase fivefold, to 2022 tons, the production of seed potatoes of domestic selection in 1, director of the center Maxim Chekusov told TASS. This will reduce the dependence of Siberian farmers on the supply of seed potatoes from abroad. “For potatoes, we have tripled the area for seed production. Due to good irrigation and the use of modern technologies, we plan to increase the yield of the seed fraction from 200 to 1 thousand tons,” Chekusov said. The scientific center has acquired a modern planting machine and high-quality fertilizers. According to Chekusov, potatoes grown in the center are super-elite class seed material, which is intended for further reproduction in seed farms.
