The potato harvest in the Omsk region in 2022 amounted to 420 thousand tons, which is more than 30% more than last year, Nikolai Drofa, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region, told TASS. “This year, the yield of potatoes has increased significantly - from 180 to 240 centners per hectare,” he said. Last year, 321 thousand tons of potatoes were harvested.
The minister stressed that in the spring in the Omsk region it was decided to make potato growing a priority industry. Farmers who grow this crop could receive subsidies for technical re-equipment and offset part of the costs of fertilizers. All this made it possible to obtain a harvest that completely covered the needs of the region.
