“Vegetables have already been collected from an area of 2,3 thousand hectares, which is 30% of the total plan. The gross harvest amounted to 52,5 thousand tons, which is 16 thousand tons more than last year. The average yield was 220 centners per hectare, which also exceeds last year’s figures by 37 centners,” said Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government Georgy Filimonov, who supervises the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
In the Moscow region, the main open-ground vegetables are the so-called borscht group: cabbage, carrots, beets.
To date, the gross cabbage harvest has amounted to 14,7 thousand tons with an average yield of 440 centners per hectare.
The gross carrot harvest amounted to 6,2 thousand tons, with an average yield of 351 centners per hectare.
The gross beet harvest amounted to 13,9 thousand tons, with an average yield of 347 centners per hectare.
Potatoes were also collected from an area of 2 thousand hectares. The gross harvest amounted to 68,6 thousand tons, which is 57 thousand tons more compared to last year. At the same time, the average potato yield in the region is 342 centners per hectare.
